A Powerful Call to Surrender and Spiritual Discernment
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ · Reviewed in the United States

This author is not afraid to boldly confront issues that hinder the Bride of Christ and the precious souls God desires to redeem — spirit, soul, and body. The message of surrender is widely misunderstood and rarely taught, yet without it, the flow of the Holy Spirit is often quenched, grieved, and blocked. Tom Snow speaks directly to these hard truths and works tirelessly to help believers break free from bondage and walk boldly in their God-given purpose. One of the book’s central strengths is how it calls readers to distinguish the voice of the Spirit from competing voices — a crucial discipline in these times of confusion and compromise. Snow doesn’t just highlight the problem; he provides practical, biblical insights for walking in true freedom. It’s not always an easy read, but it’s one for those hungry for more than religion.

Amen! And OUCH!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ · Reviewed in the United States

This is definitely an eye-opening book. I can see why most in the Western “church” wouldn’t want you to read it. I found myself often saying Amen! But just as many times saying Ouch! There were many parts of this book where I thought the author was talking directly to me. I couldn’t believe he was saying out loud some of the things I have wrestled with internally. Things I thought only I — or God — could know. I knew that I was captive to some things in my life, but this book helped me see more deeply how much more captive I was than I thought. This book needs to be read, and shared, to help more people find freedom they don’t even realize they are missing. I highly recommend it.

Spiritual Junk Food: How Churches Market False Beliefs as Truth
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ · Reviewed in the United States

Tom Snow’s Set the Captives Free is a revelation when we realize that many Christians are captives to religious doctrines, church beliefs and unfounded trust in those we consider to be prophets. Many captives are strong Bible-believing Christians that consider ourselves free until we understand that what we accepted as freedom is actually holding us captive. He explains how freedom was never up to us, can’t be created by us, and that true spiritual freedom can only be achieved not through greater effort but by greater surrender. Breaking captivity is not an overnight fix but a spiritual journey we continue all our lives.

Breaking Free Through Discernment and Truth
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ · Reviewed in the United States

Set the Captives Free by Tom Snow is a clear and practical guide to discerning the four voices we hear in life and learning to follow God’s voice above all. It encourages believers to be faithful like the Bereans in knowing the Word of God and to grow in discernment, leading to true spiritual freedom.

A MUST READ! (at least twice)
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ · Reviewed in the United States

I’ve read Set the Captives Free several times now and continue to learn new things each time I read it. Snow’s 55-year walk with God reveals the humility God has instilled in him. He’s not pretentious. He doesn’t think too highly of himself. He’s just real, raw, honest, and challenging. He clearly defines the why and the how “Egypt” holds the church captive and why many have fallen prey to the religious spiritual Stockholm syndrome they live under and defend. Fortunately, Snow doesn’t leave us hanging. He clearly defines how we can be set free and the personal, fulfilled, and intimate life we can have with the Father. It’s a MUST READ for all! I highly recommend it.
